Much of the building stock in Mārupe is new, yet the town gives way to open countryside very quickly. We work both in the new residential developments and in warehouse and office properties.
Mārupe is one of the fastest-growing areas in the Riga region, and that shows in water meter work too. Compared with Riga's housing estates, we more often come across new houses here where the meter assembly is tidy and easy to reach — but also situations where the property has no metering set up at all.
At the same time, an address in Mārupe municipality can mean a densely built block of new houses or a single house out in the countryside. That is why it helps us if your request gives not just the name of the town but also the type of property.
New residential developments. In the newer detached and terraced houses the metering point is usually in a utility or plant room, tidy and accessible. In properties like these the work is generally predictable, and the most common job is not replacement but setting up an additional metering point or replacing a meter that has reached the end of its service life.
The transition to rural building. Towards the edges of the municipality the development becomes more scattered, and the meter is more often outside the house — in a well or in a separate technical chamber. A meter sitting in a well calls for a different approach, particularly in wet or cold weather.
Logistics and office properties. The proximity of the airport and the road junctions has produced a considerable amount of warehouse and office development. In commercial properties the metering is often split across several points or divided between tenants, and the work has to be coordinated with the site's property manager.
Drainage ditches and lower-lying land. In parts of the municipality the groundwater level is high. For wells sited outside the house that means more damp, faster corrosion of the connections and a need to check the condition of the well itself, not just the meter.
Owners of new detached and terraced houses. Properties where the assembly is tidy and the question is usually about an additional metering point or a planned replacement.
Owners of older buildings. Here a full replacement together with a new shut-off valve is more often what is needed.
Managers of warehouse and office properties. Commercial sites with split metering, where the work has to be coordinated with the site's property manager.
Owners of rural properties in the municipality. Properties where the meter sits in a well outside the house and access depends on the weather.
In Mārupe the service covers both new residential buildings and commercial properties. We select and deliver the meter ourselves.
In new buildings and properties where there is no metering yet or an additional metering point is needed.
Removing the meter, having it checked at the laboratory and installing it again.

We write back and confirm the details. In Mārupe we plan the timing of our visits around rush-hour traffic towards the airport.
We replace the meter and check the assembly.
We seal the meter and prepare the documents. At commercial properties we complete them to the site's requirements.
In new houses the work usually goes quickly, because the assembly was designed with access in mind. The trickier scenario is a well outside the house: there it matters whether the well is free of water and whether the cover opens. If the well has not been opened for a long time, it is worth checking it beforehand — that saves time for both sides. If the property is close to the airport access roads, we plan the timing of our visit around the rush hour.
In Mārupe's new houses the work is usually quick, but one situation keeps coming up: the assembly has been beautifully designed, yet built into a cupboard whose door only opens part-way. Technically that is not an obstacle, but it does take longer. If your assembly is behind fitted furniture, it is worth mentioning.
With wells outside the house the main question is the condition of the well, not the meter. If there is water in the well, if the cover is stuck or if the ladder has rusted, that changes the scope of the job. In spring and autumn, when the groundwater level is higher, these problems come up more often.
At commercial properties in Mārupe the most common question is how long the water will be off. The answer depends on whether the metering points can be isolated one at a time or only the whole site at once. That is precisely why we start with a survey at warehouses and offices — without one, any estimate of the time would be guesswork.
In Mārupe a substantial share of the potential work is at commercial properties — warehouses, offices and logistics centres. For sites like these we prepare a quote after a survey, taking into account the number of metering points and the access arrangements. There is more about working with properties that have several metering points in the section for property managers.
Near Mārupe we also work in these places. Distances are given as the crow flies.
